"I wish I'd had these insights years ago."

Maybe you’re just starting out, are mid-level, or a seasoned pro. Maybe you're working for a consultancy or in industry, academia, a non-profit, or institution. Or maybe even, you’re running your own business as an entrepreneur. Whatever the case, you’re a woman who's working in cybersecurity and you need some guidance.

This handbook can do just that. It's the first in a series of books that focuses on getting more women into cyber and remaining in it. It's packed with practical advice, insights and everything they don’t tell you about being a woman working in a male dominated industry. With 52 insights, it's been created to lift you up and give you the shortcuts you need.

A Note From The Author...

Throughout my career, there have been days when I've felt like an imposter. My mind made up plenty of reasons. I didn't have a STEM degree. I didn't go to the most prestigious university. I didn't work my way up at a big tech company or consultancy. I hadn't been in the role for long enough. I didn't have enough experience. I was too young. I was a woman, and so on!

There were so many days I felt alone at work. I was terrified to ask for help, fearing it would look like weakness. I was worried about showing too much ambition, raising my voice, being too visible, asserting myself. And even wearing the wrong clothes. And, I struggled for years about how to overcome these emotions, assuming that it was proof I was incapable, unfit and not meant for cyber. I was sure it would only be a matter of time before I'd be found out as a fraud and told to leave.

Every day, I wished there was some resource I could turn to for help. A resource that helped me be my authentic self, assert my power, amplify my voice, recognise when to say no or yes, build influence so i could be liked and viewed as competant. Something that could inspire me to pick myself up when I felt down, alone, and like I had no more fight left in me.

I couldn't find it so I decided to make it.

I put all of my insights, tips and learnings into a singular resource—a small handbook called INsights that can be read quicky and sit on your desk. A handbook (the first in a series) that will make you feel like you can do great work in cyber, for a long long time.

After running this book past some of my most trusted female friends in cyber—trusted sources from around the world who work at companies both large and small, I'm confident you'll find at least one insight that will help you.

I genuinely hope you never feel like I did and that you can continue to do the great work you do as a woman in cyber without burning out, feeling depleted or giving up. I hope you never question your ability and right to work in this industry as a woman. I don't want you to feel like you're alone or an imposter, waiting to be found out. I hope no one feels like I did.

I believe in the power of women in male dominated industries and want to ensure women in cyber become standard not exception. Our work is so important and gender matters for if you're short on women, you're unsafe. Knowing what I know now, I would have loved to have come across the insights contained in this book earlier in my career. I know they would have made my life a lot easier and perhaps my impact greater. Anyway, I'm hoping this book will help you along your career.

"Jane does it once again - her insights are invaluable and will lift women upwards and onwards. I can’t wait to order this book for the women in my network. As the saying goes, “empowered women empower women,” and that is exactly what Jane is doing, lucky to call her a friend."

"52 Insights distils so much wisdom about life, balance, emotional intelligence and business strategy into such a short volume it should be required reading for every women in cyber, tech – and actually business as a whole. I’ve ordered copies for my whole team, I can’t wait to see them benefit from its wisdom as well. This book is great for insights and women at the start of their career but also holds pearls for more experienced women and acts as forgiveness, permission and empowerment for all of us combating the influence of the patriarchy in our already overburdened and overwhelming post COVID lives. If you don’t get at least three aha moments you haven’t read it properly"
